Chinese sulfanilic acid industry has developing for about 20 years. Most of Chinese sulfanilic acid is exported overseas for the limited domestic market demand. Now the production capacity of sulfanilic acid is over 30,000t/a, with the annual output of over 20,000t/a. With such large–scale production, now China has already become an important player in the world.
Meanwhile, the production of sulfanilic acid in China is highly affected by its raw materials, including aniline and sulphuric acid. Because of the huge capacity of aniline industry, the effect of aniline is not that severe. However, affected by the domestic sulphur market, the sulfanilic acid industry has gone into an awkward situation.
This also means opportunity. Chinese domestic demand from the dyestuffs and pigment is also increasing, though the growth rate is not that high as the demand from international market.
Moreover, threat also exists. Chinese governmental policy is influencing this industry. The cut-down of export subsidy and the pollution control measures also make the production situation even worse, when the comprehensive price increase of raw materials are happening all over the world.
